FAQ

After restoration, is the plastic resistant to reabsorbing car odours or other chemicals?

Yes – and often more resistant than the button was when it left the factory. Over years of use, factory plastic finishes wear thin and become slightly porous, which is exactly what lets it absorb smoke, air-freshener oils, and cleaning chemicals in the first place – that’s usually part of why the button looks and smells “used” even before the paint visibly fades. We refinish with specialised automotive paints and varnishes tested for resistance to solvents, alcohols, and the chemicals found in car air fresheners, cleaning fluids, and cosmetics, then seal it with an additional protective layer that acts as a barrier rather than a porous surface. We’d still recommend wiping up spills quickly rather than testing the limits, but in practice the refurbished surface holds up many times better than the original ever did.
