Yes – and the difference shows up fastest on backlit buttons. Stickers and decals sit on top of the surface instead of being part of it: they peel at the edges, don’t let light through evenly for night-time backlighting, and rarely match the original font or icon proportions exactly. Repainting alone can restore color, but without engraving, the symbol stays flat – there’s no depth for light to pass through, so backlit icons look dim or uneven. Laser engraving solves both problems at once: it removes the old finish, then cuts the symbol back into the surface at the correct depth, so light passes through the way it did from the factory. Combined with a durable paint coating, the result holds up to years of use rather than months.
