A worn, black START/STOP button in a car. The surface of the button had lost its original appearance, and the owner wanted to give it a new, sporty look whilst refurbishing it by changing the colour to red. A red START/STOP button is associated with sports and premium models, which is why more and more drivers are opting for this change as part of their interior customisation.

Changing the colour of the START/STOP button to red any car model

Type of material

Painted plastic – START/STOP button Alfa Romeo (applicable to any car model)

Solutions implemented

As part of the project, we carried out a refurbishment of the button, combined with a colour change. The process involved:

  • removal of the START/STOP button from the dashboard,
  • removal of the worn black paint coating,
  • thorough cleaning and surface preparation,
  • precise painting in a red colour that is abrasion- and UV-resistant,
  • laser engraving of markings onto the red coating – red is difficult to process using laser technology, but we have developed a technique that produces a sharp and durable result,
  • application of a protective layer to ensure long-term durability,
  • installation of the button whilst maintaining full functionality.

Final result: the worn black button has been transformed into an elegant, red interior feature with a factory-fresh appearance, which emphasises the car’s sporty character, whilst laser technology guarantees the durability of the markings.

Yes, we can carry out this modification on any car model. The button is removed, then we strip off the old finish, paint it red and re-engrave the markings using a laser. The button is then refitted to the car in its new colour, whilst retaining full functionality.

A red button is often associated with sports and premium cars, which is why many drivers choose it as a subtle touch when customising their interior. It doesn’t require any interference with the electronics or costly modifications, yet it significantly changes the character of the cockpit. Red goes particularly well with a dark interior, but we discuss each project on a case-by-case basis.

Red coatings react differently to a laser beam than black or dark ones, so achieving sharp, even marking lines requires the right settings and experience. Many workshops turn down such jobs. We have developed a technology that produces a clear and durable result even on red surfaces.

Yes. The change relates solely to the button’s appearance, i.e. its casing and markings. The button’s mechanical and electronic components remain unchanged, and we check that it works properly after fitting.

The time and cost depend on the car model, the type of button and the scope of the work – for example, whether the button is simply worn or whether it also needs to be recoloured and have its markings restored. We provide a quote on a case-by-case basis once we have received a photo of the button. Simply send us a photo and we will assess whether the work can be carried out.
